Once On This Island Musical Information

Central Theatre Arts Academy at Mililani High School is proud to announce its first musical production of 2020 with Once On This Island, book by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty Based on the 1985 novel My Love, My Love, the story is set in the French Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean Sea. It concerns a peasant girl on a tropical island, guided by the Gods, who uses the power of love to bring together people of different social classes.


The production’s cast is comprised of 28 Hawaii public school students ages 8-18, and brings lively song, dance and story to the stage. Cast, crew, and pit orchestra include approximately 60 or more students. Many of these students will be part of the traveling crew as Central Theatre Arts Academy takes their first production off-island to perform at The Palace Theater in Hilo. The Big Island tour will include a collaboration with students from Hilo High School, a free performance for schools and a public performance.
