2017 Carnival Information

carnival

*UPDATE* There are no more White Elephant shifts left to sign up for. If you are signing up after February 1, you are only signing up for face painting (no matter how you answer). You will be required to attend the second face painting workshop that is currently TBA. Please contact Emily Makanani if you have any questions.

The 2017 Mililani Carnival is coming up and we need student workers and parent volunteers! This year, CTAA & The International Thespian Society are hosting the face painting & white elephant booths. Please follow the link to the carnival schedule to see the open time slots available. Once you have determined which shifts you would like to take, please follow the link to the carnival sign-up form and fill out a request. In a few days, you will receive an email with confirmation of your shift(s).

Important Information:

If you are planning to volunteer / work the CTAA booth during the carnival, there will be a mandatory informational meeting tentatively scheduled for Friday, February 10 at 3 pm in the MHS Cafeteria.

If you would like to donate gently used clothing, household items, books, dvds, etc. for the white elephant sale, you may drop them off after school at the MHS cafeteria from 3pm-5:30pm.

Each shift on the schedule is 4-4.5 hours. We have overlapped each shift 15-30 min. in case someone unexpectedly misses a shift. This also benefits the incoming shift, as the outgoing shift has time to explain additional procedure before they are relieved. Please plan to be there for your entire shift. For reference, these are the hours the carnival will be open to the public:

  • Friday February 17, from 3 pm to 11 pm
  • Saturday February 18, from 11 am to 11 pm
  • Sunday February 19, from 11 am to 6 pm

Filling out the sign-up form DOES NOT guarantee your spot on the schedule until the schedule has been officially updated.

Students: You must fill out the entire form (besides the last two questions). If your form is missing ANY answers for the required questions, your request will be placed at the back of the list and will only be returned to once every other request has been taken care of (meaning, you must fill out all 4 of the shift choices if you would like your request reviewed in a timely manner). Each student is required to work at least 2 shifts, unless otherwise stated. Remember, if you are working the face painting booth, you MUST attend the workshop on January 25 with Andy Sikkink. If you sign up for a shift and DO NOT ATTEND without prior notice, there will be consequences.

In addition, if you are in another club or group participating in MHS Carnival, you are only required to work 1 shift. However, in the “Questions, Comments, Concerns” section of the sign-up form, you must write the following:

  • Club / Group name
  • Advisor Teacher’s name
  • Advisor Teacher’s classroom number
  • What booth you will be working
  • What time you will be working that booth (if already known)

Parents: Please only fill out the mandatory questions, and the final question if it applies to you. Once your shift is confirmed, you will receive an email prior to the event with important information on running the CTAA booth.

You may notice that the schedule displays each person’s phone number. This is so that someone can be contacted on the day of the event if he or she fails to show up to their shift. These phone numbers are NOT to be used to encourage another person to switch shifts, give up a shift, etc. Any inappropriate use of these phone numbers reported to Cari Taira or Emily Makanani will result in IMMEDIATE disciplinary action.

Though we appreciate your desire to help, only high school students involved with CTAA or ITS and their parents will be eligible to work the CTAA and ITS booths.
