CTAA MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Central Theatre Arts Academy is to educate students to think critically about the creative and artistic processes of theatre, and its literature. Students learn how the individual artist develops and furthers a theatrical vision by collaborating with others to present a production reflecting a multi-dimensional, creative work of art with a unifying theme.

CTAA HISTORY

Central Theatre Arts Academy, formerly known as Tri-School Ensemble Theatre Company, has been located at Mililani High School for over 20 years. Originally conceived as a Performing Arts opportunity for three high schools (Mililani High, Leilehua High, and Waialua High), the program has expanded to include students from public schools all over the district and beyond.

In 2009, Tri-School became Central Theatre Arts Academy to more accurately reflect the comprehensive nature of the program as well as the geographical location of the majority of our students.

Currently students participate in design classes, construction, acting classes, and pit orchestra in addition to the possibility of on-stage performance. We are proud of the diversity of our program and find it to be unique. All these classes are offered after school to make it feasible for students of other schools to attend. At this time, only high school students are able to take the above classes, but performance opportunities are available to all public school students. Hopefully in the future, middle school students will also be able to take advantage of our after-school building and design classes.
